Weather protection and fit

The outer material has a water column rating of 20 000 mm and a water-repellent finish. Main seams are sealed. The waistband is adjustable in width.

Layering guidance

A base layer moves sweat away from the skin. A midlayer, such as fleece or softshell, helps retain body heat; down or synthetic alternatives such as Primaloft may be used in colder conditions. A third layer protects against wind, snow and moisture. The source also recommends carrying a jacket, as summit conditions can be very cold.

Water column

The water column indicates the water pressure a material can withstand before moisture penetrates perceptibly. A higher rating indicates greater waterproofness. From 1 300 mm, a garment is considered waterproof.

RECCO® locator system

Rescuers can use a RECCO detector to locate the reflector during an avalanche accident or a search in open terrain. The reflector works without batteries. It does not replace an avalanche transceiver (DVA).
